The chalet is situated in a landscaped park located in the grounds of the old manor
house in the village of Kingsdown, near Deal, in Kent. The sloping wooded hillside of the
park overlooks the sea from the northern end of the White Cliffs of Dover.
Constructed from timber in Scandinavian style, the accommodation is on two floors with
a galleried landing overlooking the lounge area. Double glass doors lead out onto a
veranda and garden furniture and a barbeque are provided to allow you to enjoy the fresh
air and the sunshine with which the area is often blessed. There are three bedrooms, a
small double and a bunk-room downstairs and a large twin room upstairs. Pillows and duvets
are provided. The kitchen is equipped with a full size electric cooker, fridge, microwave,
toaster and kettle. In the hopefully unlikely event that the weather turns cool, there are
electric room heaters. There is a colour TV in the lounge. The main bathroom within the
chalet is downstairs and provides full facilities including a bath, electric shower, heated
towel rail and drying lines. There is a small bathroom upstairs.
You will have to bring with you, duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases, towels and tea
towels. Electricity is supplied through a £1 coin meter.
The Park facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis court, crazy golf
course, childrens play area, Channel look-out point, games room, bar and restaurant.
For those in a party mood, evening entertainment is provided on Saturdays and Sundays and
on some weekdays during the high season.
Car parking is at the perimeter of the chalet area, which is also pet-free, making the
Park very safe for children. There are trolleys available to take luggage to your chalet.
Kingsdown is a pretty little village with one main street. There is a Post Office,
butcher/general store, newsagent and three good pubs, one of which is on the beach. All
the pubs serve meals. There are bracing walks along the beach path to Walmer and Deal and
on the White Cliffs to St. Margarets Bay and Dover as well as through the
countryside. Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club and riding stables are close by and there is a
leisure pool with water flumes in Deal. There are also many English Heritage sites and
National Trust properties within easy reach.
While there is no guarantee of good weather anywhere in the UK, Kingsdown has seemed
over the years to be one of the sunniest places in the South of England.
